Hi readers, and welcome to another year!
2017, it’s going to be a great year with a lot of exciting new developments I’m sure. But let’s take a last look at 2016 and what happened on The Project Corner Blog, and with Erik van Hurck in general.
Best post, best month, best tweet
This time I would like to focus not only on a general outline of the year. But let’s take a look at some of the successes. The general outline for 2016 is excellent! in total close to 15,400 visitors and a total of more than 25,000 page visits!
The most visited post this year was About Percent Complete in Microsoft Project. And, although it is a post I wrote in 2014, this post remains the best post I ever wrote. This year it had a total of 3,036 page visits (about 12% of all visits)! And the Portuguese translation has done excellent as well, Raphael Santos translated it for me, in March 2016, and has it on his own blog as a guest post. He told me that the post has been visited a total of 600+ times already! Here’s the link to his blog and the guest post.
The best post I’ve done this year had an amazing 921 visits, and it even went viral on the 1st of June! More on that later.
May was the best month I had this year, with 2,234 people visiting the blog. A steady 82% of them were new visitors, a percentage I’m growing accustomed to because it has been steady for nearly 2 years now.
The best day, as mentioned above, was the 1st of June 2016, a full 296 people visited my site that day! Here’s the statistic grabbed from Google Analytics, the spike is the first of June:
The day before Microsoft posted one of my posts on their Facebook page! Proof that a social link still is a great technique to get more visitors. Have a look at the number of likes on the post backwards scheduling vs deadlines:
And, because there’s more than just The blog, I wanted to share some Twitter successes with you as well. If you like, connect with me on twitter via @ErikvanHurck. You will join close to 370 followers and you’ll be sure that I’ll send some interesting information your way every now and then.
Two tweets that got a lot of traffic:

Erik van Hurck, and 2016
Five exciting things I wanted to share with you that happened to me as a person.
- My wife and I are expecting a second kid!
- I made a job switch to Projectum.
- Together with the Projectum crew we helped out a Red Cross children’s refugee camp in Denmark (here’s the Danish post about what we did).
- My wife and I finished redesigning the attic, including a master bedroom and a media room (big screen, XBOX one, awesomeness!).
- I got featured 9 times in the MPUG top 99 posts.
That’s it for now. I won’t set goals for 2017, let’s just wait and see what changes will come. I think I’ll be pretty busy with two kids and the new job, no need to set new goals just yet.
Anyway, as always, thank you for reading and I hope to see you around!
