Book review: Exam ref 70-331 Core Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013

It has been a hell of a job. But I finished the book! So here is my review on the  book that helped me pass the Microsoft exam 70-331 (posted about here).

———————-Update june 2015————

I have added some free content related to the book on the TPC_OneDrive, go have a look, and read the “read me” file please.

Just a little background story before I dive into the reviewing: I am not a SharePoint consultant. I work on the Project Server side of the spectrum. But SharePoint is the engine, the powerful driver that is necessary for Project Server to even exist. So Microsoft decided that everyone that needs to be a Project Server Expert also needs to know the ins and outs on SharePoint. This was also the case with 2010.  Now in 2013 we are even more pushed towards SharePoint, wish is a good thing don’t get me wrong! But for a Project Server consultant, SharePoint 2013 as a platform isn’t a daily playfield. Here I will say that the book Exam ref 70-331 Core Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 was a REAL game changer!

The book is designed using the core competences the exam takes into account:

  • Design a SharePoint topology
  • Plan security
  • Install and configure SharePoint farms
  • Create and configure web applications and site collections
  • Maintain a core SharePoint environment

The book is providing great exam tips through the chapters and pages, and also has a number of great questions. Especially the questions were very useful, I would advise any person that is learning for Core Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 (70-331) to do every question within the book (twice!).

I give the book 5 out of 5 stars, without it I would not have passed the exam!

If you liked the review and would like to get a copy of the book for yourself, you can get it for just under 30 dollars right here.
